EZKey Story

Seventeen years ago, after a number of ergonomic adjustments to reduce the wrist pain I was experiencing, I decide to take a leap and try a new keyboard layout. Years earlier I had heard of the Dvorak keyboard. This keyboard layout was designed to reduce physical strain and increase typing speed. Seventy percent of all keystrokes are in the home row!

I read as much as I could on it. Fortunately, there were others who were using Dvorak and had kindly share what they had learned. I found a web site that provide instructions on how to change your computer settings to allow you to type with Dvorak and other keyboard language settings. I found a firm that sold stickers for the top of your keys that showed both the QWERTY and Dvorak characters on the same key so you could switch between the two or accommodate two or more users. So then the only thing I needed was to learn Dvorak.

I wished there was a training guide or something to help me learn Dvorak and make the switch. Motivated by aspirations of a long career in corporate America which no doubt would require years in front of a computer, I taught myself. For weeks, I spent nights practicing. One Monday I forced myself to make the switch. I have been typing with the Dvorak layout ever since. Over the years with each new computer I found the steps to change to Dvorak fewer and easier. There are even some basic tools on the Web to help you try Dvorak. Yet there is still no training guide I wished I had. Until now. With my training degree to guide me and some help from a friend who is an instructional designer, I have put together a training program for those who wish to switch. I hope you never experience the issues that drove me to switching to Dvorak. But if you do, the EZkey Guide provides everything you need to learn and convert to the Dvorak layout.

It includes:
